I asume you have seen the ads that offer you millions of email addresses for a relatively low cost, if you fall for one of these ads, I promise you you will end up labled as a ‘spammer’. The majority of the mails you send will end up in ‘junk’ boxes, and you’ll get no benefit from your efforts. About 70% of the addresses you purchase are bogus or have been duplicated and the remaining 30% have not requested to receive your message.
Some people choose to ‘rent’ lists, but this cost you per email. So what to do? I have a suggestion for you to build your own targeted list. Your primary goal must be to send emails to people who really want to hear from you. Remember that a large list of the wrong people is not a responsive list. A small list of well-targeted people is of higher value.
The big question, “how do I find people that want my emails?” The best way is to start with diverse marketing methods and pay attention to your web traffic.
Put an opt-in form on your Webpage and make offer for everyone that sign up. for example they will get: your online electronic magazine, your newsletter, training series, your offer for a free report or book or a contest, host an online webinar and collect emailadresses that way on so on. The opt-in form and offer should be on every page of your web site. You can also have optin forms on some of your social media sites.
The less information you require to opt in, the more sign-ups you'll receive.Requiring only an email address and first name -- or even just an email address -- results in the highest opt-in rates.
Make sure everything you send these people are valuable. If you make great content for them they will stay subscribed to you and if you are amazing they also will tell others to opt-in.
